Earn a tuition-free degree with Michigan Reconnect

Michigan Reconnect has expanded to temporarily lower the eligibility age!

Now Michigan residents ages 21-24, including already enrolled community college students, can earn a degree or skills certificate, tuition-free. On Oct. 3, Governor Gretchen Whitmer kicked off “Opening Week” for adults ages 21 to 24 who have not yet earned a college degree to enroll in Michigan Reconnect, a tuition-free community college scholarship program previously limited to those 25 and older.

Am I Eligible?

To be eligible for the Michigan Reconnect expansion, students must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age and not more than 24 years of age.
  • Apply and enroll in a community or tribal college no later than fall semester 2024.
  • Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
  • Have lived in Michigan for at least a year.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent or certificate of completion.
  • Have not yet completed a college degree.

How Do I Apply?
